Wow. After an epic battle, two almost complete re-writes, several drafts, about forty cups of tea, and a bit of aimlessly wandering round the flat to recharge my batteries, I've finally got something worthy of being sent to my supervisor.

It has been slightly counterintuitive doing so much work on a paper which I won't be presenting until late March, but the EHS want all the New Researcher papers by 15 Dec (I suppose so they can judge them for the prizes), and I need to give Noel a proper chance to have a look at it. Plus I'm away myself on the EHS training course between 2-5 Dec (the 6th is a Sunday) so that's nearly a week lost. I was tempted to use the same paper for both EHS events, after all I'll be gaining from valuable feedback on the first paper in the training course. But I need feedback for the first paper: it's a work in progress - not the kind of thing I want to submit for the conference booklet in the EHS Annual.

Now I've thoroughly earned my time later tonight sitting with a pint of Guinness (edit: and Nat's dad's delicious homemade Malaysian curry) and watching the Arsenal. In fact, it would be almost rude not to.
